Wonder & Wander: A Trailside Campionion to Renewal
2022

Wonder & Wander is an 83-page trailside companion created as the final collective offering of Renewal in the Wilderness as the organization transitioned toward dissolution. I served as lead editor, author of the Preface, author of chapter titled Practices of Renewal, and graphic designer for the complete publication from conception to print, developing the visual identity, typographic style, layout, and illustrations using Adobe Creative Suite. I collaborated closely with the Board to distill two decades of communal practice into a portable, contemplative, and practical field guide.

Values and Ethos
Creating containers of reflection
The book integrates story, poetry, prompts, and silence; mirroring the approach and ethos of Renewal in the Wilderness.
Holding complexity with honesty
The Preface directly addresses organizational ending without collapse or avoidance, modeling inner/outer congruence.
Inviting people into deeper relationship with land, self, and community
The essays, poetry, prompts, and photographs reveal wilderness as companion, mirror, and teacher.
Designing aesthetic experiences that evoke spaciousness
The visual layout, typography, and imagery are intentionally spare, and contemplative.
Translating lived ethos into accessible form
The publication captures the organization’s philosophy, its “muscles of the spirit,” and its rhythms of compassion, in a form that is both practical and soulful.
